Maintenance¶
We do our best to ensure maximum uptime at Equinix Metal™, but sometimes we need to perform maintenance operation on our server racks or data centers to make upgrades or repairs to the network back bone, power supply, or server hardware.
Therefore, you may occasionally encounter scheduled downtime. Minimizing the customer impact and helping you prepare for the event and possible downtime is our first priority.
Advanced Notice¶
Scheduled, disruptive maintenance will be announced two weeks in advance in order to allow our affected customers to prepare for the outage.
Expedited maintenance events may only be announced 3 days in advance. Given such short notice, we work to minimize the duration of any outage, and minimize the impact to customers.
Email Notifications¶
If we have determined that any Equinix Metal services you are using will be impacted by a scheduled maintenance event, you will receive a notice by email informing you of which servers will be effected and how. If your organization was assigned an Equinix Metal account representative then they may contact you directly.
You can add a centralized, maintenance email address to your Equinix Metal organization in the Organization Settings of your account.
Emergency Maintenance¶
If we must perform emergency maintenance, it will be posted to the status page, where you can track the operation's progress and subscribe for updates.
Status Page¶
Maintenance events will be announced on our status page. Our status page shows the status of all Equinix Metal components, including any undergoing scheduled maintenance and any unexpected outages, on-going incidents, or emergency maintenance.
You can also subscribe to receive updates through a variety of notification methods by clicking on SUBSCRIBE TO UPDATES.
Per-Component Notifications¶
If subscribing through email, you have the option to receive updates on a per-component basis.
After entering your email address and clicking SUBSCRIBE VIA EMAIL, you'll be taken to component selection. Initially, everything is included. Narrow down the components in your subscription by unchecking those that you are not interested in. Or click Select none and the check only those that you want to receive notifications for.
Click Save to update your subscription.
Note - when we add new components, they are not added to subscriptions by default. If you wish to receive updates for new components, you must update your subscriptions to include them.
